Founder Trustee
Kazim Anwar is the founder and principal trustee of Kazim Trust. He is an entrepreneur with diverse work experience spanning 40 years in various family-owned and operated businesses. In addition, he has 30 years of successful investing experience in global financial markets.
The spirit of philanthropy was instilled in him at a very young age due to the influence of his paternal grandmother, the matriarch of the family, Mrs. Sherbanoo Haji Mian. Sharing the same room in their modest family apartment in Karachi, her passion for philanthropy and social work had a large impact on her grandson.
Kazim Trust was established in 2008 as a result of both her influence and his own experiences as a child suffering from Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder (ADHD). At a young age, by following “more of his heart and less of his mind,” he was able to increase his self-esteem and overcome this condition. This childhood experience laid the groundwork for building an organization dedicated to helping children manage their condition.
As a young man in the 60’s, he was a member of a rock band and played a pivotal role in managing and promoting the band. He was also Junior Swimming Champion of Karachi (1967-1968) and the Karachi Gymkhana Club Squash Champion (1984-1985). These activities helped channel his excess energy into productive and rewarding activities. As a young entrepreneur, he was also the recipient of a merit export trophy for dates from the late General Zia-ul-Haq (1984-1985).
